I like this one too: 'If this snake bites you, there's no antidote in the chemist'.

Does anyone have any idea what the English equivalent would be?

maybe it means - be careful because if you get bit or injured there is no remedy. This is only a guess.Do you know?????

The English equivalent would be 'you're playing with fire'. I think that's great. So, 'this snake' is a symbol of whatever it is that you're doing, and 'if it bites you' is 'if the situation goes wrong'. It brings up a great vision, doesn't it?
