Video of my cruise on the med.

I know it's not strictly to do with this club, but thought some of you might like to see the video I have just done of our holiday cruise around the Mediterranean. The ships languages were English/Spanish, and there were lots of Spanish on board, so it was a good opportunity for me to practice my Spanish too. You will need a fast connection and latest flash player to view the video. I've put a more compressed version underneath if it takes too long to load.… Continue

Some vocabulary practice for beginners

I'm adding lots of these games to our SLS Courses. Every video lesson page (88 of them) already has on-line interactive games to help members memorize the words and useful phrases written on each page, whilst they can listen to them being read out on the podcast Now I am adding more general vocabulary games. Here is an example of one for beginners of Spanish to learn vocabulary for 'the face'. These general vocabulary lists don't have podcasts… Continue

Thanks for the welcome Jan.

I'm still pretty new to learning Spanish- been doing some home study off and on for a year or two. It's been pretty half hazard lately. Just took a vacation to Florida, and it really sparked my interest to get back into really learning to speak the language. I'm at the point where I can understand a lot of what I read, but listening to conversations is another thing altogether. I'm sure this site will be a great help, and I'm looking forward to getting to meet everyone.

Hi William,

I replied to your email about this, did you not get it? Click this link

This is the page where the free lessons are. Just look down towards the bottom and you will see 4 links to beginners lessons and 4 to intermediate to advanced. Click the lesson you wish to view.

If you can't see the videos it is because you need to have adobe flash player installed on your computer - a link to download that for free is on the main www.spanishlanguagesite.com page. You need a broadband connection to view the video lessons as a dial up connection isn't usually fast enough.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Thank you for the welcome Jan , I have had quick look at the mini course and have enjoyed the flash cards. At the moment we have some visitors here to enjoy the Spanish sunshine so will not get much time on the PC. Once they return to the UK I intend to get stuck in and start learning in earnest.

Me too, its fine when they are talking about a topic you know, and you have time to 'tune in' but they need to speak clearly. Rosa, our partner on the language site speaks lovely and clear so, I don't have too much problems with her. See you are trying our mini course. let us know what you think of it.

Hi Jan

I have lived in Spain for 3yrs, and I have tried to teach my self with a number of books and ipods, when I speak to other people I think I have done fairly well, as they don't seem to understand as much as I do. I also went to a tutor for 6mths which I enjoyed. I am normally fine on paper, but orally I don't always pick everything up, because just like us the spanish are lazy with there speech.

So there you go we'll see how I get on, either way I will enjoy myself.

cheers Kathryn

Hi Jan,

I have not moved yet but I will be living in Murcia. I am trying to pick up my Spanish once I move, I don't have too much opportunities and time to practices now. This looks like a great group.
Thanks,
Fiona
